Political Cockroaches in Washington
Yesterday, the House passed the Preventing Executive Overreach on Immigration Act, a bill preventing the president from delaying deportation for illegal immigrants. It passed 219-197 with only seven Republicans opposed and three others voting present.
The bill is D.O.A. in Harry Reid's Senate.
It appears to be a "meaningless show vote" to defuse conservative anger.
House Speaker Boehner is planning to avoid a government showdown by supporting The Continuing Resolution/Omnibus appropriation bill, aka "cromnibus". That bill will fund the government through September of next year except for Homeland Security, the agency which would implement the president’s executive order on immigration. DHS would only be funded only through March 2015.
According to Boehner, the Republicans will have more leverage to go after the president’s executive overreach amnesty executive order when they have more power in the 114th Congress. Yet, the DHS will start implementing the EO immediately.
This is a political shell game with the voters being played as suckers.
Something's rotten, not only in Denmark, but in Washington, D.C. as well.
